If you are looking to learn how to defend yourself in a real-life violent confrontation, you need not only an effective system of self-defense, such as Krav Maga, but also an instructor who has real-world experience, who can explain from first-hand experience what it is actually like to deal with a committed aggressor, who wants to cause you harm and physical injury etc. If you are going to take the time to learn how to physically defend yourself, you don’t want to rely on theories and good ideas, that may let you down in the moment. Instead, you want to be trained by those that have experienced violence firsthand and understand the psychological and emotional hurdles that have to be overcome in order to deal with real-life aggression and violence.
At Krav Maga Yashir we teach effective and proven solutions to violence. Head Instructor, Gershon Ben Keren, has spent over 30-years working in the security industry, predicting, preventing, and dealing with real-life violence. Our adult Krav Maga program is accessible to all, and doesn’t rely on athleticism, physical strength, or other physical attributes. We teach authentic Krav Maga, that has been tried and tested in one of the harshest and toughest environments on the planet, in a fun, and a safe manner. We cover the legal requirements necessary to be able to make a claim of self-defense, and our overall strategy is one of engaging with an assailant in order to be able to safely disengage.
Our program does not contain any elements of other martial arts, such as Tae-Kwon-Do, Muay Thai, BJJ, or any other martial art and our focus is purely on survival i.e., getting away safely. If you are interested in training with Gershon Ben Keren, and experiencing authentic Israeli Krav Maga for yourself, you can sign up for one of our beginners/introductory Krav Maga classes by using the button below.
Our Kids and Teens Krav Maga classes, run throughout the school year on Saturday mornings between 10:15 AM and 11:00 AM. They are suitable for those aged five through to seventeen (classes are divided by age). Our goal is to help your child/teen, develop as an individual, improving both their confidence and personal safety, whilst equipping them with the physical skills and techniques they need to have in order to deal with violent encounters.
We teach our Kids and Teens program in an age-appropriate manner e.g., we don’t teach joint locks, escapes from chokes/strangulations to younger members due to safety concerns – they practice these with friends on their own without adult supervision, and without understanding the potential consequences should things go wrong.

We have been running a free women’s self-defense program since 2010. Our approach to women’s self-defense is not to focus solely on the physical aspect of personal safety but also to teach women how to predict, identify and avoid violence before they experience it. To this end, we identify and teach, the various processes that predatory individuals use to gain access to those they target and victimize etc. We also teach attendees of our program how to use pepper spray (legal to carry and own in Massachusetts, though units can’t be delivered through the post). Our program doesn’t simply focus on rape and sexual assaults, but includes tactics and strategies, for identifying/avoiding abusive partners and dealing with stalkers etc. Our personal safety/self-protection piece is available online and can be accessed by clicking here.
